To receive a schedule of Civic functions attended by the Mayor since the last meeting and any announcements from the Mayor, Council Leader or Chief Executive and Town Clerk.

Minutes:

1.       The Mayor

 

The Mayor announced that, since the last meeting of the council, she had been privileged to attend some wonderful engagements, highlighting the number of kind invitations for Christmas lunches, the pantomime put on by Highcliffe at the Regents Centre and the ceremony for Holocaust Day which had been an extremely moving ceremony involving local school children and residents.

In addition the Mayor advised that she had recently attended the funeral of Arthur Taylor who had passed away at the age of 98 and was one of the last survivors of Dunkirk, the Mayor advised that the funeral had been very well attended and included representatives from the Military.  The full schedule of events had been circulated to each Member, a copy of which appears as Appendix ‘A’ to these Minutes in the Minute Book.

In closing the Mayor invited the Chaplain to address Council.

The Mayors Chaplain, the Reverend Canon Charles Stewart advised Council that the Priory were proposing to hold a service of thanksgiving marking the existence of the Borough Council, this would be a service of a non-political nature organised by the Priory and would be taking place after the Borough Council ceases to exist. The proposed date was Sunday 12 May but Members were advised that further information would be circulated by the Priory once arrangements were in place.

 

2.       The Deputy Leader

 

The Deputy Leader on behalf of the Leader advised that she had no announcements apart from that the work of the Shadow Authority continues.

 

3.       Chief Executive

 

The Chief Executive and Town Clerk advised that he had no announcements on this occasion.

    To deal with questions to the Council Leader or Committee Chairmen submitted in writing by members of the public under Council Procedure Rule 10.

     

    Note:  Questions by members of the public have to be received by midday five clear working days before the meeting (Monday 11 February 2019).

    The Mayor reported that no questions had been submitted under Council Procedure Rule 10.

Hurn Neighbourhood Plan - Designation of Neighbourhood Area pdf icon PDF 61 KB

    To seek approval to designate a Neighbourhood Area for Hurn Parish, to support future preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan.

    A report was submitted to Council, a copy of which had been circulated to each Member and a copy of which appears as Appendix 'B' to these Minutes in the Minute Book.

    Members were requested to approve the designation of a neighbourhood area for Hurn Parish to support the future preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan.

    Members praised the report and commended that the Council support it.

    RESOLVED that the Neighbourhood Area for the Parish of Hurn is formally designated.

    Voting: Unanimous
